Michael Bloomberg accepts Secretary Austin’s nomination.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced on Wednesday that he nominated former New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg as the chair of the new Defense Innovation Board. Mr. Bloomberg accepted the nomination and will be filling the position by leading a group of experts from across the country to provide and recommend key insights for continual national security development.
Mr. Bloomberg stated in his acceptance, “Innovation and adaptability are absolutely critical at any large organization, and there is no organization bigger or more complex than the Department of Defense. With rapid advances in technology happening alongside rapidly evolving threats to our national security and the safety of our service members, our largest government agency must also be our most forward-thinking.”
